Paper Stories Grand Opening

Kelly Maron of Paper Stories has been designing and letterpressing since 2005, and just recently, partnered up with Tami Rasmussen of Tam Tam Designs to open up a retail store and studio just a 'hop, skip, and a jump' from our offices in Chicago. It was a pleasure to meet Kelly at the Stationery Show in May, and we were so excited for the invite to the upcoming opening (with cupcakes and bubbly!) that took place this last weekend.

The shop features Paper Stories' own card and custom lines as well as a fabulous offering of designs from fellow letterpress printers and designers such as sweetbeets, Smock, Robin Beth, Tam Tam Designs and Egg Press to name only a few of the many that fill the shelves of the shop. They will also feature classes and workshops on bookbinding, papercrafts and of course, letterpress.

Working primarily on a 1926 Chandler & Price printing press, lovingly named Chandy P. (aka "The Behemoth"), Kelly and Paper Stories oversees every greeting card, print, and custom invitation that leaves the studio and shops doors.

An incredibly talented and busy gal, Kelly recently coordinated 'the Incredible Massive Letterpress Giveaway', which included 38 printers who designed an original print for the swap - printing enough for all printers involved to receive a full set of all the prints. Wow! Read all the info over at Poppytalk, where a giveaway of extra prints were up for raffle.

Look out for another post about yet another Paper Stories venture to debut early next year, called Indie Wed. Indie Wed will cater to unconventional couples who are taking a more modern, edgy, or eco-friendly approach to their special day as well as the more conservative couples who simply want to spice things up a bit. The event will highlight the work of local independent designers specializing in various wedding related fields including stationery, cakes & pastries, fashion, catering, floral design and photography.

Kudos to Kelly and everyone at Paper Stories....we're glad you are in the neighborhood!
